Lumen Prints

Every once in a while as a way to get my creative energy flowing I like to make Lumen Prints. Don't know what a Lumen Print is? This right here is a great tutorial on the subject.

In a nutshell, Lumen Prints are kind of like making photograms, only instead of using an enlarger and paper developer, one places objects on a sheet of black and white paper and instead exposes the light sensitive surface to the sun. After a few hours, or a few days, the paper becomes fogged in the exposed areas and all you have to do is dip your sheet into a fixer bath, wash, and you're done. No darkroom required, no expensive equipment, no hassle what-so-ever.

Lumen Prints can be highly experimental and unpredictable, which is part of the reason why they are so fun. An infinite number of variables can affect the print from exposure time, to paper brand...even the chemical composition of the items you are placing on your light sensitive surface.

So if you are ever looking for something quick and easy to get your creative brain in the right mood, give Lumen Prints a try!
