I've been making a lot of dark images lately with shadows and dark tones as the focal point. For some strange reason I feel like I need to apologize for that, like I'm breaking some sort of rule in the photography world or something.
I made this image while testing out a role of Ilford PanF film in my Kiev 88. Most of the role didn't turn out so well as it was severely underexposed. Still, I enjoy this frame quite a bit in the way the shadowy tree is at the forefront while the light areas of the background are more of an afterthought. I would have liked it a whole lot more if I could have removed the cars from the background but hey, one can only ask for so much right?
