Eagle Creek is by far one of my favorite trails in the Pacific Northwest. It is several miles of gorgeous waterfalls, dense trees, epic rock formations, and tiny rivers that flow every direction you can imagine. It also happens to be one of the most popular trails in the area and there is a very good reason for that. I’ve only managed to do one photo shoot in my life along this trail and it was on a day when the temperature outside was less than ideal for the model and the clouds above were constantly spitting out spurts of heavy rain.
Even under these conditions the trail was still popular and the model and I had to set up our shots and take a few frames in very small bursts of time. Eagle Creek is also one of those types of places where one cannot simply just wander off the beaten path a little bit for privacy. The trail itself is only about four feet wide in most places with a sheer drop to one side, and rising cliffs to the other. For the most part, the model had the option to stand right in front of me and that is about it. Any other hikers that came along had to just stop and wait for us to finish what we were doing.
One of these days I’d like to get back out to Eagle Creek and give it another go.
